Open Events

Open Events take place from the Autumn Term.

This Event will take place in our school hall. The school hall entrance is on East Bay Lane, near the school office. The doors will open 5 minutes before the Event is due to begin for a prompt start. If you arrive late, you will not be able to attend the Event, and will need to re-register for an alternative  date.


 *Parking is not available on site.

Reception Class – September 2019

To apply for a reception place for the school year 2019/20 you should complete Hackney Learning Trust’s online application form at . The closing date is Tuesday 15th January 2019.

Date of birth range for entry in September 2019 is 01/09/2014 – 31/08/2015.

Mossbourne Riverside Academy held its official opening ceremony on 5th June 2017.MRA_official_opening042

Attending the ceremony were Mayor of Hackney Philip Glanville; Deputy Mayor, Anntoinette Bramble; and representatives from the London Legacy Development Corporation.

Hackney Mayor said: ‘It’s great to see another key part of the 2012 legacy come to fruition, and it was lovely to visit the school again for its official opening. Securing real benefits for local people was a crucial part of the 2012 Games for Hackney, so to see this amazing purpose built, state-of-the-art school open right here in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is a very special moment.’

Hackney Learning Trust

The Hackney Learning Trust Consultant completed a learning walk on 28th February 2017 and commented that ‘Behaviour across the school in classes was excellent; learning was undertaken in a calm and purposeful atmosphere. Pupils demonstrated high levels of engagement and enjoyment in their lessons. Teachers and support staff were seen to be effectively supporting learning, during both independent activities and whole class teaching. Excellent relationships were observed between staff and pupils and between pupils and pupils.’

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is funding allocated to schools for the purpose of boosting the attainment of pupils from low income families. It is intended to enable schools to provide targeted support to help children reach their full potential.

Funding is allocated for children who are Looked after by the Local Authority (CLA) and for every child who is registered for Free School Meals.

Purpose of Pupil Premium (from the DFE Website)

  • The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who needs it most.
  • In most cases the Pupil Premium is allocated to schools and is clearly identifiable. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per FSM pupil, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.
  • Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, they will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families. New measures will be included in the performance tables that will capture the achievement of those deprived pupils covered by Pupil Premium.

PE and Sport Premium Funding

The government provides additional funding to primary schools to improve the provision of P.E. and sport activities.

Mossbourne Riverside Academy uses the funding to contribute towards the development of P.E. and sport activities by providing enrichment and lunch time sports clubs, playground equipment, tennis coaching and swimming lessons at the London Aquatics Centre.

Meet PC Hayley

I am the Safer Schools Lead Officer for Primary Schools across Hackney.

My primary role is to work closely with staff and parents to ensure that all children can be educated in a safe and supportive environment.

The majority of work that I do includes:

  • Educating around the prevention of bullying
  • Providing guidance of how to stay staff online
  • Teaching children how to conduct themselves out of school
  • Educating children about stranger danger

My aim is to be part of the success of every child.

It also ensures that we continue to tackle issues of disadvantage and underachievement of different groups.

Extended Hours Services

Breakfast Club £2.50 daily

Breakfast club takes place 8.00am – 8.45am daily. Last entry at 8.30am.

Pupils are given a healthy breakfast which consists of a variety of cereal, fresh fruit, wholemeal toast and a drink. After breakfast children are provided with activities that are child led. Pupils are taken to line up at 8.45am.


After School Club £7.50 daily

After school club takes place 3.30pm – 5.45pm daily.

Pupils are accompanied to the club room at 3.20pm each day by a member of staff. Pupils are given a healthy snack and provided with activities that are child led.


Enrichment Clubs £21 per term

These clubs have a specific focus. There are different clubs on offer each term and parents will need to sign up for each term. These clubs take place from 3.30pm – 4.30pm.
