PE and Sport Premium Funding

The Government announced that it is providing additional funding to improve the provision of physical education (P.E.) and sport in primary schools. This funding will be allocated to primary school Principals. The money must be used to improve the provision of P.E. and school sport.

We are therefore delighted to be able to use the Sport Premium funding to contribute towards the development of P.E. and school sport in the following ways:

  • Enable more girls to build their confidence to participate in sports by taking part in after school sport (basketball, football, etc.)
  • Invest in new resources for P.E. to meet the needs of both curricular and extra-curricular sports.
  • Provide swimming lessons at King’s Hall Leisure Centre.
  • Provide 1 to 1 support where necessary at after school clubs, for those students who need it.

A proposed spending plan for academic year 2019/20 can be found at this link: Sports Premium Strategy 2019-20.

P.E. and school sport play a very important part in the life of Mossbourne Riverside Academy. We believe that P.E. and school sport contributes to the holistic development of our children and, through participation, our children build and learn more about our key values such as respect, co-operation and kindness for themselves and others. Our overall aim is to raise standards in P.E. and school sport, increasing the participation and opportunities offered to our children. We aim to provide higher quality lessons and improved learning for all.
