Vision
At Mossbourne Riverside Academy we aspire for all our children to become positive, respectful, determined, empathetic, and independent learners who show integrity in all they do. We intend that every pupil will have a rich and varied range of experiences that they engage with meaningfully. We have high expectations for all pupils to reach their full potential both academically and in their wider interests and talents and we ensure our curriculum provides enriching opportunities for personal development. We want to ensure all our pupils learn how to be responsible, active citizens who contribute to their academy, local community and wider society. We are situated at the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with many opportunities which we participate in fully. We prepare our diverse academy community for life in modern Britain, putting tolerance and the promotion of equality at the heart of all we do. We celebrate diversity, both our similarities and differences and aim for our pupils to see the world from a wide variety of viewpoints giving them an understanding of fundamental British Values.
Implementation
Our Riverside Route to Readiness encapsulates the wide variety of ways we support and enhance children’s personal development. From our rigorously implemented Champions program; giving children a voice and allowing them to champion a curriculum subject, to our pupil council and UNICEF Rights Respecting Champions and our Debate Club. From our music tuition, concerts and performances to our community events to celebrate our similarities and differences. From our PRIDE values to the zones of regulation, throughout the school everything we do is carefully planned to develop children’s character, ambitions and wellbeing.
Enrichment
Our enrichment program is meticulously designed to expose children to as wide a range of experiences as possible. We focus on the Five Ways to Wellbeing ensuring our clubs give children the opportunity to:
We want all children, to discover their talents and broaden their horizons, but prioritise our pupil premium students, offering them one free enrichment club each term.
Wellbeing and Mental Health
We aim to equip all pupils with the knowledge and tools to be both physically and mentally well and to have the resilience and confidence to overcome any barriers they may encounter. The Zones of Regulation are woven into every aspect of the academy day, providing a robust framework for all our pastoral support and conversations. We have a trained Designated Mental Health lead who works in collaboration with a range of agencies to develop our pastoral support both universal and targeted. These include:
