Curriculum

Early Years to Key Stages 1 & 2

Beginning in Nursery, until the end of Reception year, Early Years learning challenges children and encourages them to develop into independent, motivated individuals, full of curiosity about the world around them – whilst giving them the tools they need to succeed in the future.

English is taught through the use of Read Write Inc. (RWI) and Literacy and Language. All children in KS1 and Reception are grouped according to their reading ability. Maths is taught using the Mathematics Mastery approach.

As an academy, we use the National Curriculum as a starting point for all learning objectives. We also use the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to enhance our curriculum. We enable pupils to apply skills and knowledge acquired in English and Maths, and other curriculum areas in a purposeful and concrete way.  The school has linked all topic areas to the key skills children should learn in Science, History, Geography, DT, Computing, Art and Music/Dance.
